Are you the kind of person that likes using your phone in the car? I’m not talking about calls, or texting…. but how about for music, or Navigation. I love using Google’s Waze Navigation program… it is a crowd sourced routing app that lays over Google Maps. The thing chews power though… my car’s USB port feeds a measly 500mA of power too. This is where the Aukey comes in.
There are TONS of USB car chargers… the options are astounding… but for me, I have a Nexus 6P, and I wanted one that has a USB-C port with full 5V 3A charging. That narrows the field a ton. I picked the Aukey from a list of a few options in Amazon, and based on the reviews, it seemed like it would meet my needs.
It plugs into the cigarette outlet snugly, and the USB ports are secure as well… the power it distributes is decent too, and it has 3 ports total (one USB-C, two USB-A). It gets my phone into a charging situation even when it is doing the hard task of the navigation. It doesn’t get very hot either… so win win.
The USB-A ports are quite robust in the amps they can deliver too (they support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0). The wife has used those with her phone and it charges up nicely too.
I would definitely recommend the Aukey CC-Y3-CA charger… it does it’s job and doesn’t break the bank either (around $17-26).
Please follow the link below if you think you’ll buy one… it won’t be cheaper for you, but I will get a little pip for it.
